Duration varies significantly by area, product, and individual metabolism. Lip filler typically lasts 6–12 months; cheek filler (Voluma) can last 18–24 months; chin and jawline treatments fall somewhere in between. The numbers on product labeling reflect clinical study results — individual experience varies. Patients with higher metabolic rates or who exercise intensely often metabolize filler faster. Teresa will give you an honest expectation during your consultation.
Most filler products contain lidocaine, which numbs the area during injection — discomfort typically decreases significantly after the first few injections. For more sensitive areas like the lips, topical numbing cream is applied beforehand. Most patients find filler more comfortable than they expected. You may feel pressure, mild stinging, or brief sharp sensation at injection points, but the overall experience is generally well-tolerated.
Minimal, but not zero. Swelling and mild tenderness in treated areas is normal for 24–72 hours, particularly with lip filler which tends to swell more than other areas. Bruising is possible at injection sites and typically resolves within 5–10 days. Most patients return to normal activities immediately after treatment. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive sun exposure, and blood thinners for 24 hours before and after your appointment to minimize bruising risk.
Yes — and many of the most comprehensive, natural-looking results come from combining treatments. Neurotoxins address dynamic lines caused by muscle movement; fillers restore volume and smooth static lines that remain at rest. Many patients receive both in the same appointment. Teresa will assess whether combination treatment makes sense based on your anatomy and goals, and will never recommend more than what's clinically appropriate for your face.
Hyaluronic acid filler is fully reversible with hyaluronidase — an enzyme that dissolves HA filler quickly and safely. This is one of the most important safety advantages of HA fillers over other injectable options. If you're unhappy with your results or experience a complication, Teresa can dissolve the filler. This is a real clinical capability, not just a reassurance talking point — it's one reason we choose to work exclusively with HA formulations.
